Our Culture is Our Strength - Film

Our Culture is our Strength won 21 Telly Awards, including two People’s Choice Awards. The film features candid interviews with youth and Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Chairman Heart on culture as a key to resilience during these times. Original music is performed by Ute Mountain elders.

Since 2015 Santicola & Company has promoted intergenerational learning, and youth-led rural development on the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation. Award winning films have been co-produced with Barcid Foundation, Crescent Sun Pictures, and Filmworks Pacific. UMUT youth films have been viewed by more than 5,000 people at film screenings in partnership with LA SKINS FEST, Garifuna International Indigenous Film Festival, The Telly Awards, University of Colorado, and more.
